mission statement

gLBT COMMUNITY

Exploratory research has shown that 18% of gay people engage in entrepreneurial activity which is much higher proportionally than is found in the general population.
Research has also suggested that gay businesses could act as a vehicle for this traditionally underrepresented group to challenge the social normative behaviour which prevents people from identifying themselves as gay. This also implies that the importance of increasing the level of entrepreneurship in the gay community may be greatly under-estimated.
It is vital that a solution is put in place that reduces the barriers faced.
Such support for entrepreneurial activity within this community could additionally alleviate some of the continuous challenges that gay people experience in terms of discrimination and harassment.
