eTHNIC COMMUNITY
A report published in November 2008 by IME highlighted that 12.6% of the ethnic population in Ireland have either partial or full ownership of their own business.
A profile of ethnic businesses in the report highlighted that they are small in scale, young in age, concentrated in locally traded services sectors, and operating at the margins of the mainstream economic environment.
The three main challenges that ethnic entrepreneurs believe affect them are:
Access to finance
Gaining the trust of Irish business actors
and
Unfamiliarity with the Irish business environment.
IME has already undertaken a significant amount of actions to support potential and existing ethnic entrepreneurs with their business activities. It continues to provide tailored training workshops and programmes, plus a mentoring service that enables ethnic entrepreneurs to receive advice from successful Irish entrepreneurs.
Please contact us at info@ime.ie for further information on how we can help members of the different Ethnic Communities to start and grow their own business.
